People talk

People talk, thereby affecting other people’s minds and behavior. If someone were to find a bunch of machines in a deserted factory that did the same, it would be the sensation of the millennium and the discoverers would become world famous overnight, even if they just happened to find these weird machines by some accident. Everybody–politicians, scientists, philosophers, schoolchildren–would be stunned and ask: “How on Earth can they do this–what are they doing and how do they do it?! What are the exact mechanics of this process that produces streams of sounds and signs that are meaningful to these funny machines??” The superpowers would immediately start huge research projects, spending billions of dollars, racing to be the first to understand every possible detail of this amazing phenomenon.
